What ritual aspects and environment can I expect? The Harlem Minyan’s Kol Nidre service is a gender- egalitarian, traditional service. It will be mostly in Hebrew, with some English readings interspersing the chanting of the traditional Hebrew liturgy. There will be explanations of the service at a number of key points as well as a Dvar Torah (sermon) offered in English. This service will have no amplified sound. The service typically lasts about 2 hours.

Please note: As The Harlem Minyan's regular children's program will not run during this service, we kindly ask families with young children to make alternative arrangements for their children. JCC Harlem is offering an Eerev Yom Kippur service just before Kol Nidre. Click here to register for that.

The Harlem Minyan is a grass-roots, lay-led egalitarian congregation that has been meeting in Central Harlem since 2012. Our free Kol Nidre service will be led by Rabbi David Gedzelman.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have purchased a family or individual pass for the high holidays at JCC Harlem, we ask that you additionally RSVP with the names and ages of all of your guests to if you plan to join us for Kol Nidre specifically.
